What are dental crowns and why is it needed?
Dental crowns are tooth-shaped “caps” that are permanently placed over a tooth. The crown covers the tooth to restore its shape and size, strength and improve its appearance. Dental crowns Thailand are usually made of porcelain or porcelain fused to metal, and look and feel just like your natural tooth enamel.
A dental crown may be needed in the following situations:
- To protect a weak tooth from breaking or fracture
- Restore a broken or worn tooth
- Support a tooth with a large filling
- Hold a dental bridge in place
- Protect tooth that has had root canal treatment
- Teeth that are weakened by a lot of decay or a large filling
Treatment Procedure for Dental Crowns Thailand
The dental crowns procedure usually requires two trips to the dentist, and 5-7 days in Thailand to complete.
Visit 1 – Tooth preparation
On your first visit to our dental clinic your tooth will be prepared for the crown. Your dentist will file the tooth down to make room for the crown, and an impression of the tooth and the surrounding teeth will be made. A plastic temporary tooth crown is fitted until your final crown is ready.
Visit 2 – Placing of the crown
The temporary crown is removed and the final crown is permanently cemented into place.
