What are porcelain veneers and when is it used?
Dental veneers, porcelain veneers or ceramic veneers are ultra-thin shells, custom-made to cover the front surface of teeth. The shells are bonded to the front of the teeth changing their color, shape, size and length. Porcelain veneers are a rapid, aesthetic and safe way to correct unattractive front teeth.
Porcelain veneers are routinely used to fix:
- Teeth that are discolored and worn down
- Teeth that are chipped or broken
- Teeth that are misaligned, uneven or irregularly shaped
- Teeth with gaps between them
Treatment Procedure for Porcelain Veneers Thailand
The porcelain veneers procedure usually requires two trips to the dentist, and 5-7 days in Thailand to complete.
Visit 1 – Tooth surface preparation
Your dentist will shave a thin layer about 0.5 mm of outer tooth structure. This is to allow for the small added thickness of the veneer, and may require local anesthetic. An impression is then taken of the prepared teeth and is sent to our dental laboratory to construct your porcelain veneers.
Visit 2 – Application of the veneer
Examination and adjusting the veneer for the perfect fit and color. Your veneer will then be cleaned, polished and roughened to enable a strong bonding process. The surface is prepared and the veneer is placed to the front of your tooth.
